Plum Creek Park is one of the best examples of recycling found in the county. Formerly the Brunswick Township landfill, this site has been transformed into a scenic park by the park district. Beginning with the original 30-acre landfill site, the park district has added over 160 additional acres.
The 1.5-mile nature trail at Plum Creek offers visitors a chance to enjoy the scenic mature forest located on this property. An improved loop trail connects the north and south sections of the site. The park offers an enclosed picnic shelter on the north side available by reservation. This facility is heated and air conditioned to provide a great place for your family reunion or meeting. An open-air shelter can also be reserved on this side of the site. The south side offers an open-air shelter for group use by reservation. It also has a playground for children. Individual tables and grills are located on both sides of the park for your enjoyment. Both the north and south shelters are fully accessible via paved paths. Also, two fishing ponds can be found at Plum Creek. Stocked periodically by the park district, your family will enjoy their peaceful settings.
