History:
Iceland Ice Skating Rink has been a fixture in Sacramento since 1940 and was a venue for a countless number of shows and fun for all who have skated here. Iceland operated continuously from November 4, 1940 until March 28, 2010 when a 5-alarm arson fire burned the rink to the ground.
The fire destroyed so much of Iceland, but not our spirit. Fortunately, the rink foundation was built of metal pipes and not plastic pipes that are used in modern rinks. The metal pipes survived the fire and were a starting point to build upon once again. As Iceland begins her fourth season of outdoor skating, and her 73rd year of existence, she continues to be able to bring the joy of skating to future generations. Bring your skates!
