Winter in Glacier Country is full of snowy excitement. Whitefish Mountain, a top 20 U.S. downhill ski resort is located less than an hour away, with beautifully groomed runs, backcountry terrain, and the famous "snow-ghosts" looming over the slopes. Green Valley Ranch, Glacier Park and the Flathead Valley are also home to many miles of cross country skiing, with diverse maintained trails from west of Whitefish to the Continental Divide. Another favorite local pastime in winter is snowshoeing. Strap on a pair and go for a hike on the snow for a close inspection of the forest in her winter coat.
